Job Description
Maintenance Electrician\n\nLocation: Reading\nJob Type: Permanent, Full-time\nHours: 36 hours per week, Monday-Friday (Plus occasional on-call)\nSalary: Competitive, with extensive benefits \n\nJoin our Clients Estates team as a Maintenance Electrician, where you will play a crucial role in the maintenance and operation of the extensive property portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team, ensuring the smooth operation and safety of electrical systems across a varied estate.\n\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities:\n\nPerform maintenance and repairs on power and lighting systems, including ancillary equipment across university-owned properties.\nConduct routine inspections, maintenance, and testing of the low voltage electrical network, fire alarm, and emergency lighting systems.\nSupervise and assist in routine maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and industry standards.\nInstall, maintain, and repair electrical equipment for both permanent fixtures and temporary events.\nEngage with specialist contractors, providing supervision and liaison to ensure quality and compliance.\nUtilise provided technology to record job details, risk assessments, and other relevant data.\nParticipate in the maintenance team's call-out rota, providing out-of-hours support as needed.Required Skills & Qualifications:\n\nRecognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.\nRelevant certifications such as 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations to BS7671\nProven experience in electrical maintenance, with strong fault-finding skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent organisational and time management skills.\nGood computer literacy, particularly in using tablets and CAFM systems.\nStrong communication skills and a client-facing attitude, with a focus on customer care.\n2391 is desirable but not essentialBenefits:\n\nCompetitive salary package with additional payments for on-call duties.\nOpportunities for professional development and training.\nA supportive team environment within a leading educational institution.\nComprehensive health and safety training to ensure a secure working environment.To apply for the Maintenance Electrician position, please submit your CV and cover letter detailing your relevant experience and qualifications.
