Logistics & Transport Manager

We are working with a well-established food manufacturing and distribution business to recruit an experienced Logistics & Transport Manager to take full responsibility for logistics, warehouse operations, and transport compliance across a multi-site operation in Kent.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong operational mindset, excellent compliance knowledge, and the flexibility to support planning and transport activities when required.
The Role
The Logistics & Transport
Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring service levels, cost control, and compliance standards are consistently met. The role holds full responsibility as the named CPC holder and will work closely with operations, planning, and senior site leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Full accountability for logistics and warehouse operations, ensuring on-time and in-full delivery performance
Act as the named Transport Manager and CPC holder, maintaining full legal and transport compliance
Provide operational cover for route planners during holidays and sickness, including some weekend working
Lead, manage, and develop logistics, planning, and warehouse teams
Monitor and control transport costs, fuel usage, and delivery performance
Negotiate rates and contracts with transport and logistics providers
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
Analyse logistics data and trends to support operational and commercial decision-making
Ensure compliance with BRC standards, hygiene requirements, and health & safety legislation
Support operational projects, business change initiatives, and new business activity
Maintain high standards across vehicle, warehouse, yard, and wash areas
Provide out-of-hours operational support when required
This role is operational and hands-on in nature and requires flexibility to meet business needs.
About You
Hold a current Transport Manager CPC qualification
Proven experience in a Logistics, Transport, or Warehouse Management role, ideally within food manufacturing or FMCG
Strong working knowledge of BRC standards and compliance-led environments
Experience managing transport compliance, audits, KPIs, and cost control
Comfortable covering planning functions during periods of absence, including weekends when required
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills
Flexible, resilient, and comfortable being contacted outside standard working hours
