Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics Employer: Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust Job Overview This is a 1‑year fixed term full‑time (10 PA) post for a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery. The role focuses on soft‑tissue knee surgery and participation in the on‑call trauma rota. Main Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive trauma and orthopaedic service to the local population of approximately 500,000. Participate in the on‑call trauma rota. Contribute to audit and directorate meetings and perform required administrative duties. Maintain professional expertise: attend meetings, complete e‑learning courses, submit CME diaries, and arrange annual appraisals. Engage in postgraduate teaching and support teaching programmes for junior staff. Participate in research projects and teaching programmes. Cover for colleagues when absent.
Qualifications & Experience Essential criteria
Full GMC Registration. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register (or expected within six months of interview date). Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in trauma and orthopaedics. Independent responsibility for clinical care of patients. Right to work in the UK. Disclosure to DBS as required by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Desirable
Specialist interest in soft‑tissue knee surgery. Experience with teaching and research.
