Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology Full time or Part time (10 PA, including up to 2 PA SPA, for full time) Salary Scale – £111,430 – £148,064 per annum (pro rata if part time) NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic GI service in Forth Valley. Responsibilities The successful applicant will contribute to the general clinical Gastroenterology and GI endoscopy service. Existing sub‑specialty roles within the department include:
Inflammatory bowel disease EUS Pancreatobiliary disease Hepatology Viral hepatitis Nutrition Upper GI pathology
This post has no commitment to general medical on call but will require an out of hours commitment to a GI bleed rota with prospective cover of colleagues. The GI service functions as a fully integrated unit with all members contributing to a team‑based approach to patient care and this appointment will play an important role in the continuing development and redesign of Gastroenterology services. The existing Gastroenterology senior staff comprise nine Consultants and five GI specialist nurses. We have a fully equipped endoscopy department with four rooms (one screening room) and an endoscopy team that includes colorectal and upper GI surgeons as well as five nurse endoscopists. We have a close working relationship with surgical colleagues for complex inpatient care (hepato‑pancreato‑biliary disease, inflammatory bowel disease, acute gastro‑intestinal bleeds) and weekly upper GI / HPB / colorectal / IBD multi‑disciplinary team meetings. Qualifications Applicants will be expected to have a wide range of experience in Gastroenterology and possess the MRCP (UK) or equivalent. Full GMC registration and a licence to practise are required. Applicants registered with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register, or within six months of the anticipated award of a CCT at the time of interview, are acceptable. Applicants applying under the Portfolio pathway must be entered onto the GMC Specialist Register at the time of application. Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development is required. Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential.
