We are seeking a skilled and motivated Level 4 Teaching Assistant to join the dedicated support team at a specialist SEMH Secondary School in Urmston. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with teachers, SEND staff, and pastoral teams to help students overcome barriers and succeed academically and socially.
This School is a community special school located in Urmston, providing specialist education for students aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or are currently undergoing assessment. The school serves a small cohort, allowing for a highly personalised and nurturing approach to education and support.
Many students join this school having experienced significant challenges in mainstream education. The school's mission is to remove barriers to learning, rebuild confidence, and enable every young person to achieve their full academic and personal potential. Strong emphasis is placed on positive relationships, emotional regulation, resilience, and self‑esteem, alongside academic progress.
Location: Urmston Contract: Temporary with opportunity for Permanent role Hours: Full time, term time only Rate: Up to £130/day DOE Start Date: ASAP
What You'll Be Doing
Deliver targeted interventions and support learning activities for individuals and small groups Support students with additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health needs Assist with planning, delivering, and evaluating learning programmes under the guidance of teachers Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policy Support assessment, recording, and reporting on pupil progress Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing of all students Liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals where appropriate What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a recognised Level 4 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience) Team Teach qualification (desirable) Has experience working with secondary-aged students (ideally) Strong experience working with SEND pupils Demonstrates strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills Can work independently and use initiative while also being a strong team player Has a calm, patient, and professional approach Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding, and equal opportunities Is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school What We Offer
