We are seeking an exceptionally capable Legal Researcher to join our award-winning Civil Litigation team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives on solving complex legal problems and communicating nuanced issues clearly and effectively.

About the Role

This is a dynamic and intellectually stimulating role that goes beyond background reading.

Responsibilities

  • Case-related research and problem solving: Supporting high-profile civil litigation cases by identifying difficult legal questions and exploring novel interpretations or strategies where the law may not always be straightforward. Helping develop legal solutions based on nuanced understanding and creative application of the law.
  • Content development: Drafting legal and sector-related content such as briefing notes and memos and assisting with the preparation of materials for presentations and conferences.
  • Thought leadership: Supporting the firm’s initiatives in areas such as commercial dispute resolution, ESG and insolvency through news monitoring, analysis, article research and article drafting - some of which may be published under your name.
  • Technology and research tools: Using legal databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PLC, Solomonic), AI-enhanced tools (such as Westlaw AI), and broader internet sources to gather insights and track global legal and commercial trends.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, together with an exceptionally high standard of written and spoken English.
  • A high level of academic achievement, including a 1st or 2:1 at degree level.
  • Experienced in research, journalism, or a legal academic setting, with a demonstrable ability to produce clear, persuasive, and structured work.
  • Internet-savvy and comfortable navigating a wide range of legal, commercial, and news sources.
  • Proficient in legal databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PLC, Solomonic) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Highly organised and able to manage competing deadlines independently.
  • Curious, proactive, and a natural problem-solver with excellent attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, with a willingness to work closely with colleagues across departments.
