An established London law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join its busy Accounts Department. This role offers the opportunity to provide key support to the Finance Director and legal teams, working within a well-organised and collaborative finance function. The firm operates a hybrid working model, with 2 to 3 days per week in the London office and the remainder worked remotely, subject to departmental requirements.


This is an excellent opportunity for a Legal Cashier looking to join a growing team that values career development and long-term progression. Formal accounting qualifications are not required, although experience within a property-focused legal environment is essential.


Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring client accounts, checking receipts and notifying fee earners
  • Carrying out daily bank reconciliations for client and office accounts
  • Ensuring all transactions comply with firm policies and the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules
  • Processing BACS, CHAPS, Faster Payments and international transfers
  • Posting transactions to the case management system
  • Managing office receipts and payments, including client-to-office transfers
  • Assisting with aged debt management
  • Processing bills and uploading disbursement records
  • Supporting finance-related projects such as inactive matters, residual balances and file storage
  • Maintaining accurate and well-organised electronic filing systems
  • Resolving account queries and liaising with fee earners on ledger balances


Skills & Experience

  • 3–4 years’ experience working in a legal accounts function
  • Experience within residential and/or commercial property environments
  • Strong understanding of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and VAT regulations
  • Working knowledge of AML requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with fee earners and colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Systems-focused and comfortable working under pressure in a high-volume environment


Desirable (Not Essential)

  • Experience using PracticeEvolve or similar case management systems
  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping
