The Lecturer in Marine Engineering Role:

As ourLecturer in Marine Engineering, you will deliver high quality and effective teaching and learning in Marine Engineering subject areas to Bournemouth and Poole College students.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Marine Engineering will include:

• Teach on courses as agreed with the Learning Manager across the Marine department using a variety of mediums such as Hydraulics and Mechanical Engineering techniques to reflect the needs of the department and your area of expertise.
• Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
• Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
• individual learning styles.
• support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
• extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.
• general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.
• Organise and participate in relevant visits, enrichment visits, ship visits, and liaise with external organisations to enhance the learner experience.
• Create an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment
• Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
• Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the health and safety of self and others
• Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings internal and external.
• Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course
• Internal verification
• Act as a Personal Tutor to students, full time students/apprentices
• Representing the College at internal and external events and meetings including student recruitment and admissions events

As our Lecturer in Marine Engineering, you'll ideally have:

• Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
• Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years.
• Marine based qualification at L3 or above
• 3 years' experience in Marine Engineering environment or suitable related industry
• Current evidence-based practice in field of expertise
• Working knowledge of Marine Engineering and Electrical Systems
• Competent in Microsoft Office applications
• Communication skills including written and verbal
• Welding Experience
• Machining experience
