Curriculum Development Teaching Fellow (Statistics) Job Type: Full-Time.
The Department of Mathematics has a popular undergraduate programme with around 900 enrolled students. Supported by a £500k grant to redevelop our mathematics programmes, the department is seeking to recruit a Teaching Fellow in Statistics. The main duties of the post will be to develop and teach undergraduate modules in Statistics for mathematics undergraduates, with a focus on active learning. The postholder can expect to be involved in all aspects of the department's teaching, e.g. as a personal tutor and project supervisor, and by contributing to the efficient running of teaching within the department.
This role has a substantial curriculum development component. You will work closely with the project team and with students as partners to develop a novel statistics curriculum that is collaborative, discovery-based and informed by global challenges. You will carry out appropriate scholarly activities to develop your disciplinary pedagogic knowledge, including the evaluation of the redeveloped programmes.
You will also have pastoral responsibility for a small number of undergraduate tutees and supervise student projects.
A PhD (or equivalent) in Statistics or a closely related discipline
Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), or willingness to work towards this.
