Schools across Birmingham are seeking dedicated, patient, and proactive SEND Learning Support Assistants (SEND LSAs) to support pupils across EYFS, Primary, Secondary, and Alternative Provisions. These roles play a crucial part in helping young people access learning, feel safe, and develop independence.
Whether you have experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Social Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH), Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), or Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD/ADHD), there are a variety of rewarding opportunities available.
The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will bring:
Experience
Previous experience in SEND settings, inclusive classrooms, or specialist provisions
Experience supporting pupils either 1:1, in small groups, or within whole-class settings
Excellent classroom management
A caring and nurturing personality
Key Skills & Qualities
Excellent behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
Strong communication skills
A proactive nature—someone who uses initiative and contributes ideas
