We are seeking a calm, compassionate, and resilient Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated support to pupils at a welcoming, inclusive, and forward-thinking mainstream primary school. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference within a supportive school community that values consistency, empathy, and positive relationships.

The role involves delivering structured 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, and SEMH. Some pupils present with behavioural challenges, requiring a confident, proactive, and composed approach. Full-time availability is preferred but not essential.

You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to create a nurturing, secure, and engaging learning environment where pupils feel understood, respected, and empowered to succeed.

Main Responsibilities

- Provide targeted 1:1 or small-group support tailored to pupils' individual learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs

- Build trusting, positive relationships that promote confidence, self-regulation, and engagement with learning

- Use calm de-escalation strategies, clear boundaries, and consistent approaches to manage and reduce challenging behaviour

- Collaborate proactively with teaching staff and the SENDCo to implement behaviour plans and personalised learning strategies

- Support pupils during unstructured times (such as break and lunch) to promote safety, inclusion, and positive social interaction

- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can thrive

What We're Looking For

- Experience working with children with SEND, behavioural needs, or in education, care, youth work, or behaviour support (desirable but not essential)

- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach combined with confidence in setting boundaries

- Resilience, proactivity, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations

- A strong commitment to consistent, high-quality, child-centred support

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside staff and families

Essential requirements:

Right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer Sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas.

Able to provide two recent references (from the last two years).

Hold a current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one*

*Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
