Learning Mentor – Secondary School Location: SE2, South East London Start Date: January Contract: Full-time, term time
A supportive and inclusive secondary school in the SE2 area is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis from January.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students’ academic progress, behaviour, attendance, and emotional wellbeing, particularly those who may face barriers to learning.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring to students across KS3 and KS4
Supporting students with behaviour, motivation, attendance, and engagement
Working with vulnerable learners, including those with SEND, SEMH, or pastoral needs
Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent role model
Liaising with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCo, and families where appropriate
Supporting students both in and out of the classroom
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilience
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have experience working with children or young people in a mentoring, pastoral, or support role
Be patient, resilient, and able to build strong relationships
Have excellent communication and listening skills
Be proactive, organised, and adaptable
Be committed to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Be available to work full time from January
