Job Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Leap Design & Production Tutor to join our supportive teaching team in Birmingham. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality learning and teaching to post-16 SEND learners, helping them progress through the Laser Leap qualification suite, up to Entry 3 to Level 1. You will lead both practical and theory lessons in Design & Production, ensuring students are fully engaged, motivated, and supported in developing their skills and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver lessons: Develop and implement engaging and differentiated lessons based on the Laser Leap qualification suite, combining both practical and theoretical content.
* Curriculum delivery: Teach and assess students on a wide range of design and production topics, including basic design principles, practical production techniques, and understanding of materials and processes, in line with the national curriculum and specific qualifications.
* Individualized support: Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring each learner's needs are met effectively through personalized learning plans and differentiated instruction.
* Assess and track progress: Conduct regular assessments and progress reviews for students, providing constructive feedback and maintaining records of achievements and areas for improvement.
* Promote inclusion: Create an inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and confident to express themselves, helping them reach their full potential.

* Engage with parents/guardians: Maintain regular communication with students' families, providing updates on progress, achievements, and areas of concern.
* Attend meetings and training: Participate in departmental meetings, staff training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practices and keep up to date with relevant SEND and educational developments.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Teaching experience: Experience teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities, particularly post-16 learners.
* Relevant qualifications: A qualification in Design & Technology, Art & Design, Creative Arts, or related subject (at least Level 3 or equivalent). A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DTLLS, or equivalent) would be an advantage.
* Knowledge of Laser Leap qualifications: Familiarity with the Laser Leap qualification suite, particularly in Design & Production, is desirable but not essential.
* Strong communication skills: Ability to engage with learners of diverse abilities, adapting language and teaching methods to meet individual needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Classroom management: Ability to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, with a focus on behaviour management techniques and strategies suited to SEND learners.

* Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues, including learning support assistants, to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience with SEND students: A proven track record of working in a SEND environment, with specific experience of post-16 learners, is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of assistive technology: Familiarity with assistive technology and learning tools used to support SEND learners would be beneficial.
* Creative approach to teaching: A strong, creative approach to teaching that enables students to engage with the subject in an enjoyable and meaningful way.
Benefits:
