My client is currently seeking an experienced Lead/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team based in Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key technical leadership role, working across a diverse range of industry projects while mentoring and developing junior engineers.
The Role
As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the design and development of mechanical systems and enclosures from concept through to production. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of mechanical products and enclosures across the full product life cycle
Produce and review 2D and 3D CAD designs, primarily using SolidWorks
Define mechanical architecture and ensure robust, scalable design solutions
Work closely with manufacturing and liaise with manufacturing engineers to support production and assembly processes
Design for manufacturability, including injection moulding and sheet metal components
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
