Ford Credit operates under a PDO model. Based at our newly refurbished offices in Dunton, our Product Delivery focuses on delivering the greatest value to the business at any point in time. Employees in this role are responsible for designing, developing, testing and maintaining software applications and products to meet customer needs. They are involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture design, coding, quality testing and deployment. Position Overview Lead Software Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving the technical success of our team. The position involves architecting solutions and managing critical tasks often in ambiguous situations. Responsibilities include ensuring that reviews align with organisational goals, facilitating productive discussions, resolving issues, setting the technical direction of the team, and exemplifying technical excellence. Key Responsibilities
Lead team delivery by architecting solutions and managing the completion of critical tasks. Lead the technical direction of the team, providing guidance and setting an example of excellence. Collaborate with other teams to ensure technical alignment across the organisation. Lead efforts to implement process improvements, thereby enhancing productivity and output quality. Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers and sponsor emerging leaders, advocating for their growth. Oversee agile practice implementation, aligning them with business objectives and facilitating cross‑team collaboration. Manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring open communication across teams. Ensure reviews are aligned with organisational goals and resolve issues effectively.
Essential Qualifications
Strong expertise in at least one programming language. Experience creating and reviewing technical designs that meet business goals and technical feasibility. Experience designing, developing, testing and maintaining software applications.
Desirable
Exposure or experience with: HTML, CSS, React, Cypress, JavaScript (JS), TypeScript (TS), Java, Spring Boot, JUnit, Rest Assured, GCP, JetBrains products, GitHub, Fossa, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Cycode.
Additional information: This is a UK position and applications will only be accepted from current UK permanent employees (FCE and FMC employees only). The role is full‑time with flexible arrangements, including job‑share opportunities. It is expected that the successful candidate will attend the Dunton office for typically four days a week and remain flexible on the days required by business needs.
