Job Description
Lead Engineer, Shopify (Scaling DTC Brand)
Salary: Up to £100,000 base
Location: UK-based, ideally London (flexible)
One of the UK’s fastest-growing, multi-million-pound consumer brands is hiring a hands-on Lead Engineer to own and scale its Shopify eCommerce platform.
This is a senior, in-house role with genuine ownership, fast decision-making, and real influence over technical direction, alongside flexible working and clear career progression as the business scales.
What You’ll Do
Lead and scale the Shopify commerce frontend, integrating with the existing platform Optimise site speed, UX, and the full customer journey, from homepage to checkout Work closely with marketing, e-commerce, and operations teams Ensure everything built is fast, scalable, and optimised for performance Stay current with Shopify features, apps to keep the team at the top of its game Collaborate with the development team to deliver a smooth migration from a custom platform to Shopify
What We’re Looking For
4+ years’ experience in full-stack development, with at least 2 years focused on Shopify Strong expertise in Shopify themes, Liquid, Online Store 2.0, and Shopify CLI Excellent front-end skills across JavaScript (ES6+), CSS, and SCSS Strong understanding of e-commerce fundamentals, including checkout flows, product pages, and conversion optimisation Experience with the Shopify ecosystem, APIs (REST/GraphQL), metafields, and third-party integrations Experience migrating from a custom tech stack to Shopify Performance-focused mindset, with attention to site speed and Core Web Vitals Self-driven, comfortable working with high autonomy and accountability Strong communicator who collaborates effectively across technical and non-technical teams
