The Corporate Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM) Service has recently re-structured to position itself as a catalyst for change across the organisation, and we are looking to recruit a dynamic leader to help to drive this change. The CAFM Service plays a pivotal role in supporting the Council to deliver its full range of services and is critical to transforming the way that we operate. The Role This newly formed role will be required to design and deliver management arrangements and communication systems to respond to what are dynamic current and future service requirements. The Lead for Operational Facilities Management is a strategic role, providing highly effective and customer-focused operational facilities management (FM) services to the Council, ensuring a compliant, safe, secure, clean and suitable environment for staff and service users. As the Council's professional Lead for Operational FM, the postholder will be responsible for the provision of a portfolio of circa 300 property assets, with a value of some £0.5 billion. The service is provided by an appropriate blend of internal delivery and external consultants / contractors. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, innovating to provide FM excellence while overseeing the sourcing and provision of FM services across the property estate. A key aspect of the role will be to deliver improved performance and lower cost from better sourcing, contract management and delivery of specific projects. The role will have overall responsibility for leading the development, implementation and management of information systems for the Service, and the effective operation of its front door through its Service Desk. Working with the Council's Cabinet, councillors and internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will have excellent relationship skills and the ability to influence and balance strategic leadership with effective business management. Applicants Applicants should possess a degree-level qualification in a relevant subject and / or be able to demonstrate recent relevant experience in a similarly demanding role. You will be able to think and act strategically, demonstrating a clear vision that can be translated into effective action. You will have a proven track record that includes effective resource and financial management, strong organisational skills, excellent negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to influence in an assertive but non-confrontational way.
