Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Based in Filton - Hybrid working (approx. 60% onsite)
Guidant Global is delighted to partner with Airbus to recruit a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join the Test Centre (1VM) in Filton. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the development of a new avionic control bench supporting large hydromechanical installations for landing gear extension/retraction and braking systems.

What you'll be doing
As the Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering a brand‑new control bench from concept through to entry into service. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the full electrical design of a new avionic control bench
Developing electrical schematics, technical drawings and specifications
Contributing to the overall system architecture
Managing design risks and major engineering milestones (FCR, PDR, FDR, CDR)
Supporting and overseeing assembly, build, and integration activities
Leading the Validation & Verification phase
Ensuring successful entry into service
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to meet time, cost and quality targetsWhat you'll bring
We're looking for someone with proven experience leading medium‑to‑large‑scale engineering design projects - ideally within aerospace, test systems, or complex engineering environments.
You'll also bring:
Strong background in electrical design and architecture
Experience working with design tools such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or KiCad
Understanding of electrical systems, testing principles, and instrumentation
Knowledge of avionic hardware interfaces (analogue, discrete)
Familiarity with avionic data buses (A429, CAN, AFDX)
Experience with control systems and data acquisition
A collaborative mindset, adaptability, and strong communication skillsAviation or landing‑gear‑related experience is beneficial but not essential. Transferable engineering experience from other sectors is welcomed.
Contract details
Hourly rate: £37.38 (PAYE) / £50.00 (Umbrella)
Hours: 35 per week across 4.5 days (between 7am-7pm)
Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by Airbus Security)
IR35 status: Inside IR35
