The Role: Laboratory Technician
This isn’t just another lab job — it’s your chance to be a key player in delivering top-quality products at a company with over 185 years of brewing excellence.
As a Laboratory Technician at Frederic Robinson Ltd, you'll be hands-on in ensuring every pint meets the highest standards. From running essential quality control checks to troubleshooting issues and maintaining lab equipment, you'll help keep our operation smooth, safe, and top-notch.
Shift rotation: Once trained, you’ll work a rotating shift pattern (6–2, 7–3, 11–7, 3–11), with initial training on the 7–3 shift. Flexibility is key — and we’ll give you the tools to succeed.
What You’ll Do
- Run lab tests and inspections with pinpoint accuracy
- Log results clearly and raise any red flags right away
- Keep lab equipment clean, calibrated, and ready to go
- Stay sharp on safety, and speak up about any risks
- Jump into new processes, tools, and shifts as needed
- Share your knowledge and support other technicians
- Help create a tidy, efficient, high-performing lab
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Solid experience in Quality Control or Assurance (ideally in food or drink)
- Good grasp of wet chemistry & microbiology techniques
- Sharp attention to detail and great at juggling tasks
- Strong team spirit and clear communicator
- A proactive, positive mindset with a hunger to improve
- Willingness to work shifts and adapt as needed
Nice-to-Haves:
- Degree-level qualification
- Strong IT skills
- IBD Certification (achieved or in progress)
Work With Us
You won’t be stuck in a silo — you’ll collaborate with production teams, brewers, engineers, sales, logistics, and more. If you thrive on variety, teamwork, and getting things done, you’ll fit right in.
Our Values
We’re looking for someone who:
- Tackles tasks with energy and a “can-do” attitude
- Works brilliantly with others — and helps raise the bar
- Cares about quality and does the job right, every time
- Keeps customers (internal & external) front of mind
- Brings fresh ideas and embraces improvement
What’s in It for You
- Competitive salary + shift pay
- 25% off food, drink, and accommodation across our pubs and inns
- Discounts at over 800 retailers
- Structured training and career development
- Full PPE and safety gear provided
- Recognition programs and employee engagement initiatives
