Role Overview
We’re seeking a versatile and motivated Junior Product Designer/Developer/Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about product design and engineering, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to contribute to innovative lighting solutions. This is a hybrid position, combining remote work with regular attendance at our Reading office for team collaboration, product reviews, and hands-on prototyping.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and engineering of new lighting products and components.
- Create and manage 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings inSolidWorks.
- Produce high-quality visualisations and product renders usingKeyShotto support internal reviews, presentations, and marketing.
- Develop compelling visual presentations, mockups, and documentation usingAdobe Creative Suite(Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Collaborate with internal teams including production, operations, and sales to ensure product feasibility and performance.
- Communicate effectively with aglobal supply chain, including suppliers and manufacturers, to manage prototypes and production timelines.
- Supportthermal and photometric testingand validation of new products.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance ofproduct-related website contentin collaboration with internal teams.
- Balance and prioritisemultiple design and development projects simultaneously, from concept through to production.
- Ensure all designs meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proficiency inSolidWorks(3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings).
- Experience withAdobe Creative Suite(Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Experience usingKeyShotfor product rendering and visualisation.
- Strong foundation inproduct engineering, design for manufacture, and testing methodologies.
- Understanding ofthermal managementandphotometric principlesin product design is highly desirable.
- Experience supportingwebsite development and content updatesrelated to product visuals or technical information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable working onmultiple concurrent projects.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in a design or engineering role (graduate-level candidates with strong portfolios also considered).
- Experience working in the lighting industry or with electronic products is a plus.
