Junior Legal Counsel (NQ-2 PQE)

Job Description

I’m working with a fast-growth, early-stage energy business at the forefront of green hydrogen infrastructure in the UK and beyond. As they scale into their next phase — including a European expansion — they’re looking to hire a Junior Legal Counsel (NQ–2 PQE) to support their small but highly engaged legal team.

The role offers variety, breadth, and the chance to make a real impact in a high-profile legal team. You’ll be working on everything from project agreements for hydrogen and renewable developments, to corporate governance, compliance, and commercial contracts.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Corporate & Commercial: Reviewing and negotiating NDAs, MoUs, LoIs, and assisting on IP, data protection, and wider corporate matters. Supporting the sales team with spot sales, long-term offtake contracts, and related hydrogen sales issues.
  • Project Development: Drafting, negotiating, and advising on agreements covering land options, grid connections, procurement, and O&M for renewable projects.
  • Operations: Assisting on equipment purchase agreements, service contracts, and logistics for hydrogen transportation and storage.
  • Governance & Compliance: Helping to embed governance frameworks and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Legal Operations: Contributing to process and system improvements to enhance the legal team’s efficiency.

Candidate profile

  • Strong technical legal skills with a pragmatic and commercial approach.
  • Excellent communicator, able to distil complex legal issues for non-legal colleagues.
  • Adaptable, organised, and comfortable balancing varied priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and able to work both autonomously and as part of a small team.
