Founded in 1965 by Rodney Kinsman RDI, OMK designed and manufactured much of the furniture sold through Terence Conran’s Habitat stores during the 1960s and 1970s. A leading figure in the High-Tech design movement, Kinsman’s work is recognised as iconic within 20th century British design.

Today, OMK is a market leader in public area seating, collaborating with world-renowned architects, operators, and specifiers. Our experienced design team has developed a focused range of furniture that enhances public spaces globally.

Alongside our public seating division, Kinsman’s iconic designs continue to be sold to the retail and contract markets under the OMK 1965 brand.

The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior Design Engineer to join our London-based team.

Working closely with the Design department, you will create bespoke configurations of existing furniture and develop layout designs for public spaces using AutoCAD. You will be responsible for interpreting architectural drawings and producing client documentation suited to different design stages and formats.

As part of a small, collaborative team, you may also contribute to the design and development of new products. A strong understanding of design for manufacture and technical development will therefore be highly advantageous.


Key Responsibilities

·      Develop detailed CAD models and technical drawings using the existing CAD library for client approval and manufacturing

·      Ensure all drawings are accurate and thoroughly reviewed before release.

·      Maintain and update the drawing register while coordinating with production to ensure IMS alignment.

·      Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure components and materials meet project specifications.

·      Assist in quality control processes and maintain accurate and comprehensive process documentation.

·      Assist with product certification processes and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

·      Support product development timelines, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met.

·      Manage NCR processing alongside production and supply chain.


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office
  • Experience with Revit and KeyShot (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and initiative
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English (additional languages advantageous)


Additional Requirements

As we export globally, national and international travel to exhibitions and project sites may be required. Candidates must:

  • Hold a valid passport
  • Hold a valid driving licence (advantageous but not essential)
