Junior Commodity (Energy) Analyst

We are looking for a junior analyst to join the Commodities Team as part of the Global Markets Team. We deliver real-time analysis and insight on global energy markets to a diverse client base that includes traders, portfolio managers, economists, and strategists.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly analytical graduate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong interest in financial markets/commodity markets. You will be working alongside experienced economists, cross-asset analysts, and former traders from investment banking, hedge funds, and macro research.

The principal responsibilities of this position include:

• Providing real-time analysis on European energy markets, specifically European power or carbon markets.
• Contributing to regular thematic research.
• Developing new analytical tools and research products.
• Developing market connections and managing existing relationships.
• Working closely with the senior energy analysts and the wider markets team.

Essential requirements for this role:

• Minimum: 2:1 undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering (e.g., Petroleum, Electrical), or Geoscience.
• Highly numerate with clear and concise presentation skills.
• Sharp eye for detail and accuracy are essential.
• Ability to use initiative in approaching data analysis tasks.
• Willingness to learn independently.
• Clear interest in energy/commodities.
• Able to deliver in a real-time environment.
• Team player with strong collaboration skills.
• Some exposure to financial markets/ commodity markets is desirable.
