Salary Range: £27,300 - £32,533 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC News NI is recruiting for two journalists to work in our Belfast newsroom. A full-time continuing position will initially be placed in the political programmes team working towards The View, Sunday Politics and Red Lines and a 21 hours per week continuing role is available working across Daily News Programmes (Good Morning Ulster, Talkback, Evening Extra, BBC Newsline) and the Digital and Radio Bulletins teams. BBC News NI is currently undergoing a digital transformation and while the jobs of offer may initially be placed in the departments listed in the description, journalists may be expected to work across the newsroom and may be moved to other teams at the discretion of management. More Journalist roles may also be recruited from this campaign.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Writing concise and accurate news stories, cues and briefs while demonstrating the ability to exercise strong editorial judgement while under pressure.
- Dealing with complex editorial and legal issues.
- Contributing on a daily basis to the production of original journalism across the BBC News NI brand.
- Ability to work on programme production, use video, audio and text editing software and be prepared to embrace new technology.
- Be prepared to broadcast and report on air if required.
- Liaising daily with teams across the brand to ensure our content reaches the biggest audience possible.
- Be prepared to work across the newsroom in each of the departments under the BBC News NI brand and be passionate about news and have a desire to tell stories that matter to our audience.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- The ideal candidate will have strong journalistic skills and a passion for news and current affairs.
- You will have excellent writing skills and a strong grasp of editorial and legal issues.
- You will have experience of writing and producing concise and accurate news stories for multiple outlets.
- You will have a sound knowledge of politics, current affairs and ongoing issues in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and further afield.
- You will have a strong track record of original journalism
- At least six months experience working as a journalist is desired.
