Investment Banking Associate - Energy & Infrastructure (BESS)

About the Role

We are partnered with a well-established investment banking group seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join a successful Energy & Infrastructure team, with a dedicated focus on the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) sector.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, advising clients on high-impact transactions in one of the fastest-growing segments of clean energy infrastructure.

You will support deal execution across M&A, project finance, and capital markets transactions, working closely with senior bankers, institutional investors, and corporate clients active in utility-scale and distributed energy storage.

Key Responsibilities

• Support execution of M&A transactions within the BESS and broader energy storage market
• Build and maintain complex financial models (DCF, LBO, project finance, and infrastructure models)
• Conduct industry, market, and company-specific research across the energy storage value chain
• Prepare pitch books, investment memoranda, and client presentations
• Assist in due diligence processes and transaction documentation
• Track sector developments including battery technology, grid-scale storage economics, and regulatory frameworks
• Work closely with clients including developers, utilities, infrastructure funds, and strategic investors

Essential

• 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, infrastructure finance, private equity, or corporate finance
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (strong academic background required)
• Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment with tight deadlines

Desirable

• Additional fluency in a European language is highly desirable
• Demonstrated interest in energy transition, renewables, or infrastructure investing
• Understanding of power markets, storage technologies, or battery economics is advantageous
