Interim Head of Fundraising - Auditory Verbal UK

Hybrid – Central London / Remote | £60,000 FTE | 6-month contract (with potential to extend)

Full-time or part-time (min. 0.7 FTE) | Flexible working supported

Charity People is thrilled to be working in partnership with Auditory Verbal UK (AVUK) to recruit an Interim Head of Fundraising for an initial six-month contract.

AVUK is an award-winning charity working to ensure that all deaf children have the same opportunities in life as their hearing peers. Through Auditory Verbal therapy, AVUK supports deaf babies and children to learn to listen and speak, while also training professionals and advocating for wider access to this life-changing approach.

We’re looking for an experienced and strategic fundraising leader to join AVUK as Interim Head of Fundraising. This is a key role within the Senior Management Team, responsible for leading and supporting a high-performing team of five and delivering AVUK’s voluntary income targets across trusts, major donors, corporates, and individual giving.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and inspire the fundraising team, ensuring a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Deliver AVUK’s 2018–2028 fundraising strategy, diversifying income and driving innovation.
• Work closely with the CEO and SMT to align fundraising with organisational strategy and growth plans.
• Oversee financial planning, reporting, and forecasting for all voluntary income.
• Support major donor engagement, including AVUK’s flagship event The Wonder of Sound (Sept 2025).
• Collaborate with the Head of Communications on campaigns such as Loud Shirt Day and the Winter Appeal.

About you:

We’re looking for someone with:

• A strong track record in fundraising leadership
• Experience across a range of income streams, including trusts, major donors, and corporates.
• Proven ability to lead teams, develop strategy, and deliver income growth.
• Excellent relationship-building skills and a collaborative, values-driven approach.
• Confidence in using CRM systems (Salesforce desirable) and data to inform decision-making.
• Be part of a passionate, mission-led team making a tangible difference for deaf children and their families.
• Flexible working culture, with hybrid working and part-time options available
• Competitive salary and benefits, including 27 days’ holiday (pro rata), 7% pension contribution, and a supportive, inclusive environment.

Contract: 6 months minimum, with potential to extend

Location: Hybrid – Central London (W1) and remote (minimum 1 day in office per fortnight)
