Duration: 6 months (potential to extend)

Start: Immediately or at short notice

Day Rate: £550-£650 per day outside IR35


The Opportunity


We are supporting a fast-growing, private equity-backed SaaS business to assist with finding an interim Financial Controller. This role has potential to be made permanent for the right candidate.


The business is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to bring rigour, structure, and leadership to the day-to-day finance operations. This is a critical role, reporting to the Finance Director, with responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while driving process improvements across the function.


Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function, including management of a small team
  • Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear variance analysis
  • Produce high-quality monthly management accounts and supporting commentary
  • Strengthen financial controls, processes, and governance frameworks
  • Manage balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations and review processes
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles
  • Partner with wider business functions to improve financial visibility and accountability
  • Assist with audit processes and act as key point of contact for external auditors
  • Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting tools, and automation
  • Support cash flow management and working capital optimisation


Candidate Profile


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager, ideally within a SaaS or technology environment
  • Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth businesses preferred
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting expertise
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and at a detailed level
  • Experience improving processes, controls, and systems
  • Confident managing stakeholders across finance and non-finance teams
  • Prior interim/contract experience advantageous
