This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive Accountant who enjoys improving systems, tightening processes, and leaving a business in a stronger position than they found it.The initial engagement is3 months, with potential extension depending on project progress and ongoing support needs.The RoleYou will work closely with the senior team to enhance financial processes, reporting, and systems integration, as well prepare the accounts for the year-end which is in January.Key objectives include:Improving financial accuracy, structure, and visibilityStreamlining month-end close processesImplementing clear policies and documentationTraining staff to ensure changes stickKey ResponsibilitiesReview and enhance Xero configuration, including Chart of Accounts and reportingImplement profit tracking by business unit and improve KPI visibilityDevelop and document a depreciation policy compliant with UK GAAP/IFRSClean up and maintain the fixed asset registerDesign and implement a robust month-end checklist, including:Stock management and valuationsAccruals and prepaymentsDebtor and creditor controlsVAT returnsDepreciation and cross-chargingSupport Office 365 setup and workflows (SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams)Integrate systems such as Stora, Stripe, VisionWeb into XeroRedesign management reports for clarity and usabilityTrain internal staff and produce clear user guides and policiesAbout YouEssential:Proven experience as an Interim or Project AccountantStrong, hands-on expertise with XeroExcellent grasp of month-end and management reportingConfident working independently and delivering to tight timelinesAbility to explain finance clearly to non-finance stakeholdersDesirable:Experience in operational, asset-heavy, or stock-based businessesFamiliarity with systems integrations (e.g. Stripe, inventory or booking systems)Experience with Office 365 workflow improvementsEngagement DetailsContract length:3 months initially (potential extension)Commitment:3-5 days per weekStart:ASAPWorking pattern:Hybrid / on-site as requiredTotal effort:Approx. 4060 days over the initial termWhy This Role?This is a genuinely impactful assignment youll have autonomy, access to systems, and senior buy-in to make meaningful changes.
