Job Title: Industrial Engineer – Powertrain
Pay Rate: $35.00 – $39.41 per hour
Location: Dundee, Michigan, United States
Employment Type: Contract
Schedule: Full-time hours

Position Summary
The Industrial Engineer – Powertrain is responsible for analyzing and optimizing production processes to improve efficiency, line speed, and workstation assignments. This role utilizes lean manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waste, perform time and motion studies, and support the IE Manager and Supervisor in maintaining efficient line operations.
Key Responsibilities
Work Measurement & Analysis
Conduct time studies and provide detailed work valuations and analysis
Perform elemental breakdowns and summarizations
Conduct 3M Analysis (Muri, Mura, Muda) and implement improvements
Rebalance jobs to improve cycle time and line efficiency
Create VA/SVA/NVA analysis for assembly stations
Optimize part presentation, tool placement, and workstations
Time tool changes, gaging, and quality checks
Maintain all daytime study logs for non-repetitive assignments
Update VSOPs, SWIs, OPLs, standard work, and QC plans
Process Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Troubleshoot manufacturing systems and equipment for operational efficiency
Record and analyze faults, defects, uptime, and cycle times
Validate FIS/ANDON data and coordinate with Plant IT and Controls Engineers
Perform capacity analyses and maintain documentation (e.g., Dick & Jane sheets)
Support Kaizen initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Check machine cycle times and monitor operations regularly
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Knowledge of time study, standards, ratings, MODAPTS, ergonomic evaluations, MTM-UAS
Ability to work with all levels of the organization from shop floor to management
Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work any shift, overtime, and occasional travel
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering
Manufacturing assembly experience, including launch experience
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
