Job Description

Hybrid Hardware Platform Architect is needed to join our Hardware Platform team in Cambridge for a 6-to-12-month project paying £600 - £700 a day inside IR35 and more for the right candidate. This is a pivotal role; you will act as the bridge between SoC (System on Chip) architecture and physical board implementation. You will be responsible for defining, influencing, and aligning technical requirements for high-performance validation boards that support next-generation compute and high-speed interfaces.

This is a role for a strategic thinker who can navigate complex design trade-offs to develop optimal solutions for our customers and development partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Definition: Translate complex technical requirements from SoC teams and Product Managers into comprehensive platform architecture specifications.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Evaluate architecture proposals and coordinate across Silicon Architects, Hardware, and Software teams to ensure a unified technical vision.
  • Design Oversight: Liaise directly with board designers to drive specifications into schematic and PCB implementation, ensuring alignment with Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) requirements.
  • Technical Communication: Present and defend technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders, from individual engineers to executive technology leads.
  • Ecosystem Integration: Address the needs of embedded compute, infrastructure, and server market segments through robust platform design.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Deep SoC Expertise: 10+ years of experience with SoC architectures, memory interfaces, and platforms involving embedded compute or AI.
  • High-Speed Interconnects: Hands-on experience with cutting-edge standards, specifically PCIe Gen5/6 and LPDDR5/6.
  • Complex Board Design: Proven competence in designing boards with high-complexity LSI devices (FPGAs), embedded firmware, and PMICs.
  • EDA Proficiency: Expert-level understanding of the Cadence OrCAD CIS and Allegro PCB suite.
  • Advanced PCB Knowledge: Strong command of PCB stack-up definition and controlled impedance routing for complex topologies.
  • Leadership & Influence: Ability to drive progress in ambiguous environments and influence cross-functional teams across multiple geographies.

Apply Now to avoid disappointment, this is an urgent role and we are looking to interview candidates next week.
