Job Description - HSE Officer\n\nOverview\n\nWe are seeking an experienced and people-focused HSE Officer to join our team. This role requires someone who is a strong cultural fit-engaging, personable, and not "robotic" in their approach. You will support multiple sites and teams to ensure high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide HSE support across approximately 250 employees across Warrington, Bredbury, and Sheffield.\n\nConduct and manage audits, safe systems of work (SSOW), and risk assessments.\n\nPromote a positive safety culture and support continuous improvement in HSE practices.\n\nCollaborate with operational teams to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards.\n\nWork closely with the HSE Manager, providing site-level insights and support.\n\nExperience, Skills & Qualifications\n\nEssential:\n\nBackground in manufacturing or engineering.\n\nExperience conducting HSE audits, SSOW, and risk assessments.\n\nA practical, engaging communication style with strong cultural alignment.\n\nHighly Advantageous:\n\nExperience working within the steel industry.\n\nNot Suitable:\n\nCandidates from a food manufacturing background.\n\nOther:\n\nTime-served experience is acceptable alongside formal HSE qualifications.\n\nDepartment Structure\n\nReports directly to the HSE Manager.\n\nWorks as part of the wider HSE function supporting multiple sites and approximately 250 employees.\n\nPackage & Benefits\n\nSalary: £32,000 - £38,000 (up to £40,000 for the ideal candidate)\n\nHours: 8:30am - 5:00pm\n\nShift Pattern: Days\n\nHolidays: 25 days + 8 statutory\n\nPension: 4% employer / 5% employee\n\nLife Assurance: 3x salary\n\nHealth: Healthcare package\n\nCar/Van: Provided (if applicable to the role)\n\nAdditional: Overtime or shift allowance (if required
