Housing Standards Officer Contract: 3 months Rate: £32.96 per hour (LTD) Location: Mid Sussex Start: ASAP We’re working with a local authority client who are looking to bring in an experienced Housing Standards Officer to support their Environmental Health / Housing Standards team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a hands-on role focusing on inspections, enforcement and ensuring private sector housing is safe, compliant and fit for occupation. ️ Key Responsibilities: Carrying out inspections of private sector housing, including HMO inspections and licensing Investigating housing complaints and applying relevant housing and environmental health legislation Using HHSRS to assess property conditions and determine appropriate enforcement action Supporting Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) work, including inspections and feasibility assessments (where required) Providing clear advice to landlords, tenants, agents and partner agencies Maintaining accurate case records, reports and photographic evidence Working collaboratively within the Housing Standards / Environmental Health team to deliver a customer-focused service Role Profile - Housing Standard…✅ What we’re looking for: Recent experience working as a Housing Standards Officer / Environmental Health Officer Strong knowledge of housing legislation and private sector housing standards Experience carrying out inspections and enforcement activity HMO and HHSRS experience highly desirable Confident communicator with good report-writing skills Full UK driving licence and ability to carry out site visits What’s on offer: £32.96 per hour LTD 3-month initial contract with potential extension Flexible working arrangements (subject to service needs) Opportunity to work within a supportive and established local authority team To apply or find out more, contact: George Westhead (url removed) (phone number removed)
