£12.21 per hour, rising to £12.71 per hour from 1st March 2026 in line with National Living Wage (applies to all, including those under the age of 21)
Staff accommodation is available at a rate of £69.83 per week
Are you a versatile hospitality professional with a passion for customer service, who would you like to live and work in picturesque surroundings? We are seeking a reliable, efficient, and team-orientated person who can help us with cooking, reception, housekeeping and general site organisation here at YHA Beer.
Our 40-bed hostel is set within attractive private grounds in the pretty village of Beer on the East Devon Coast. We accommodate guests in private rooms, bell tents and camping pitches. YHA Beer is popular with groups, families and individuals throughout the summer season.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who offer practical skills and/or IT skills. We have an old building and large garden to keep in order, and many of our working routines involve using a computer.
The Team Member working week involves a range of shift patterns over 4-5 days and includes weekends. You will need to be comfortable with early starts (06:30am for breakfast shifts!) and some later finishes (21:00pm for reception). You will also be expected to work some split shifts, with the benefit of time off in the afternoons to enjoy the beach or the hostel grounds.
The contract on offer is for 9 months, from February 2026 November 2026. You will work between 35 and 42 hours per week, with a minimum contracted guarantee of 25 hours. The accommodation on offer for this live-in post is a private 1-bedroom flat with garden access and parking.

What will you be doing as a Hospitality Team Member?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
Providing great customer service to all our customers, members and guests.
Working on reception, offering insights about the hostel and the local area. Ensuring every guest feels informed and welcomed.
Using our systems for efficient guest check-ins and check-outs, food and beverage sales and service.
Carrying out housekeeping duties, ensuring a comfortable, clean environment for all visitors.
Assisting in the preparation of food and serving food and drinks with genuine warmth, hospitality, and pride that will influence in more sales.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Hospitality Team Member?
Our Hospitality Team Members undertake a wide range of customer facing duties within the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors.
To provide this service to our guests we are looking for the following qualities in our Hospitality Team Members:
Experience of working face to face with customers
Experience of working in a team can help others to achieve a common goal
Excellent timekeeping, with flexibility to cover different shifts punctual, can work to deadlines
Ability to manage varying pressures, include peaks in workload demands can prioritise, able to deal with conflicting duties
Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA what YHA does and how we do it
Demonstration of our HEART values theyre part of everything we do, and we look for people who bring them to life in their everyday work
