Highways Services Technician

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Utilities Services Technician to join our client's team in Surrey. This role plays a vital part in supporting highway maintenance operations by helping to prevent utility service strikes, promoting safety on-site, and ensuring effective planning around existing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

· Carry out utility surveys across designated sites, identifying underground and overhead services
· Advise operational teams on safe excavation techniques and service avoidance measures
· Support teams in tracing, locating, and managing buried and visible utility assets
· Liaise with contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure best practice and safety compliance
· Keep detailed and accurate records of all findings, utility data, and any interventions
· Contribute to risk assessments and method statements related to utility works
· Provide updates and reports to supervisors and project managers as required

Skills & Experience

· Previous experience in utilities, civil engineering, highways, or a related field (preferred)
· Strong understanding of service avoidance and health & safety requirements
· Ability to read and interpret utility drawings and digital mapping systems
· Good communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders
