Tradewind Recruitment are working with welcoming and well-regarded secondary schools in Finchley who are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, with an immediate or January 2026 start.

This role is ideal for confident support staff who enjoy working closely with teachers, leading interventions, and supporting pupils across the curriculum.

HLTA - Role Overview

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. Responsibilities include:

Delivering pre-planned lessons and covering classes in the absence of the teacher.

Leading small group and one-to-one interventions to support progress and attainment.

Supporting pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs.

Assisting with lesson planning, resource preparation, and assessment activities.

Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Supporting pupils with homework, coursework, and exam preparation.

Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams.

Requirements

HLTA status or significant experience working at a higher-level TA capacity.

Proven experience supporting students in a secondary school setting.

Strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

A proactive, adaptable, and supportive approach.

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
