Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

New Today

Are you an experienced HLTA with a passion for language teaching and a knack for supporting across the primary phase? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time HLTA to join a vibrant, inclusive primary school in Harrow!

This role offers a wonderful balance between teaching and support, where you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality French lessons (Reception–Year 6) using the Kapow scheme of work, alongside offering PPA cover and general class support across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. You’ll receive dedicated PPA time every Monday morning to prepare, with pre-planned resources provided. The school values efficiency, so marking expectations are minimal – live feedback and quick reflections are the norm here.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, pre-planned MFL lessons (primarily French) across the primary age range

• Provide PPA cover and occasional whole-class teaching as needed

• Support learning through differentiated instruction and classroom engagement

• Offer feedback through live marking and effective classroom interaction

• Contribute to a positive, collaborative school environment

Requirements
• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a similar UK-based role

• Confidence in delivering pre-planned lessons across primary phases

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills

• Experience teaching or supporting MFL (French preferred)

• Right to work in the UK and a valid DBS or willingness to obtain one

Benefits
• Competitive daily pay

• Supportive leadership and staff team

• Pre-prepared schemes of work and planning

• Great transport links and on-site parking

If you’re an enthusiastic HLTA ready to bring French alive in a dynamic school setting, we’d love to hear from you!
