We are seeking a confident and experienced HLTA to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South East London, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex educational backgrounds. This is an excellent opportunity for a resilient practitioner who thrives in a structured and supportive alternative provision environment.
The Role:
Deliver planned lessons and interventions in the absence of the class teacher
Support teaching and learning across KS2–KS4 (depending on the setting)
Work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to re-engage pupils in learning
Implement and support positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Assist with assessment, progress tracking, and EHCP targets
Work closely with teachers, behaviour mentors, and pastoral teamsThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
HLTA status or equivalent experience
Proven experience working in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEMH setting
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protectionWhat’s on Offer:
