Duties of the HGV Technician role:
  • Conducting major and minor repairs on commercial vehicles, mainly Mercedes-Benz trucks
  • Performing routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing faults using advanced diagnostic equipment
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of work performed
  • Managing warranty claims and relevant paperwork
  • Carrying out wheel alignments and tyre fitting
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Managing workshop inventory and maintaining a clean, safe working environment
  • Supporting team members with diagnostics and repairs
  • Working efficiently to meet customer deadlines and uphold quality standards
Candidate specifications:
  • Level 3 NVQ, City and Guilds, or IMI qualification in HGV Vehicle Repair and Maintenance
  • Proven experience in diagnostics and repairs on commercial vehicles
  • Ability to identify worn or faulty components according to DVSA standards
  • Full UK driving licence relevant to vehicle category
  • Strong work ethic with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Passionate about vehicle repair and delivering outstanding customer service
  • Metalindependent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Experience working within a dealership or workshop environment is preferred
