Mechanic Light & Heavy Vehicles / Plant Technician

Location: Croft

About the Role

Were looking for a skilled Mechanic/Technician to join my clients Transport Operations team. Youll help keep our fleet of vehicles and plant equipment safe, roadworthy, and running efficiently.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the samefrom diagnosing faults to carrying out repairs and servicing a wide range of vehicles.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Servicing, maintaining, and repairing light and heavy vehicles and plant equipment
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Carrying out inspections, servicing, and MOT testing
  • Completing repairs to a high standard
  • Keeping accurate job records and paperwork
  • Following all health & safety procedures
  • Supporting and mentoring apprentices
  • Helping improve workshop efficiency and productivity

What they are Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working in a workshop or garage
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance (cars, HGVs, or plant)
  • Understanding of health & safety practices
  • Full UK driving licence

Qualifications (or willing to work towards):

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent in vehicle maintenance)
  • MOT Tester licence
  • HGV Licence (Category C)

Desirable (Nice to Have):

  • HGV Class C+E licence
  • Experience with plant machinery
  • IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
  • Ongoing professional development

Working Hours & Flexibility

* Occasional out-of-hours work may be required
