Depot Connect International is the leading independent UK service provider for tank transport & depot services established in 1979, we operate over 80 modern tractor units, and employ circa 300 people within our network of eight depots. The Cleaning, maintenance, and servicing of all types of tanks is an integral part of the business.

We are looking for a highly motivated *HGV Mechanic *with a minimum of 3 years proven experience of vehicle repair and maintenance of heavy good vehicles to join our team based in Barry, South Wales.

*Duties include:*

* Carrying out scheduled inspections, services and necessary repairs on a fleet of vehicles, trailers and equipment to DVSA Standards.
* Ordering spare parts to ensure the most cost effective method of repair.
* Ensuring the vehicle downtime is kept to a minimum and that repair standards are met.
* Reporting and investigating persistent technical problems noted in repair work.
* Liaising with the Garage Manager and customers regarding vehicle availability before and after the repair.
* Maintaining garage cleanliness and disposing of materials in accordance with the companies environmental policies.
* To prepare vehicles and trailers for M.O.T and ADR tests.
* Designing and manufacturing modifications for various applications
* Deputise for a Garage Manager as and when required to ensure the smooth running of the garage.

The shift pattern will be Monday to Friday 6am – 6pm, Saturday 6am to 12am. On call 1 week in 3.

*The successful candidate should have the following skills:*

* The ability to accurately diagnose the cause of a wide range of vehicle faults
* Knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic systems on vehicles (electrical and electronic).
* Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
* Current driving licence for vehicles up to 3500 Kg gross vehicle weight.
* HGV Class 1 licence (preferred), but you must have the ability to gain a vocational driving licence (category C+E) within 12 months.
* Ability to obtain IRTEC Certificate in vehicle inspection.
* Ability to carry out heavy lifting, sometimes in awkward positions.
* Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.

Pay: £20.00-£24.00 per hour
