Job Description

Do you want to work with the 15th fastest-growing startup in Europe? If so, you’re in the right place.

AssetCool is one of Europe’s fastest-growing startups, building the fastest path to more power on the grid.

We’re tackling one of the most urgent challenges in the global energy transition: grid congestion. Electricity demand is rising fast; driven by electrification, AI and data centres. While traditional grid upgrades take years, demand exists today. The grid isn’t ready.

AssetCool delivers robotic grid upgrades that physically increase the capacity of existing transmission lines by up to 30%, without rebuilding infrastructure. Using advanced robotics and proprietary photonic coatings, we unlock data-centre-scale capacity in weeks to months, not years and at a fraction of the cost and disruption of conventional approaches.

Our technology goes beyond capacity. We reduce losses, prevent corrosion, cut corona noise and generate high-value operational data that supports smarter grid operation and maintenance. Our systems are already deployed globally, and we just raised a big funding round from leading energy and climate investors.

AssetCool is one of the most innovation-driven companies in the UK energy sector and we’re scaling fast! If you’re ambitious, mission-driven and excited to work on real deployments that strengthen the industry that really matters, AssetCool is where you can make it happen.

Role Overview

AssetCool is moving from a start-up into a fully operational commercial business. This role is responsible for building the foundations of safe, consistent and scalable operations. The HSEQ Manager will create and embed an Integrated Management System (IMS), with an immediate focus on Health and Safety. The role will define standards across the business, develop policies from scratch, and ensure they are adopted in day-to-day operations. It will also lead ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation and establish systems for long-term compliance and performance.

This is a foundational role at a pivotal stage of growth. The focus is on building and embedding systems rather than maintaining existing ones, with Health and Safety as the cornerstone to ensure the business scales safely, professionally and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Health and Safety framework from the ground up, including policies, risk assessments, safe systems of work and method statements. Ensure compliance with UK HSE regulations and industry requirements. This is a hands-on role focused on both creation and implementation.
  • Define and document standard operating procedures across operations, including field work, engineering activities, installations and site work, ensuring consistency across all projects.
  • Design and implement a practical and scalable Integrated Management System covering Health and Safety, Quality (ISO 9001) and Environmental (ISO 14001), ensuring it is embedded into daily operations.
  • Lead ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation, including gap analysis, documentation, internal audits and managing external certification.
  • Build a strong safety culture by introducing and embedding near-miss reporting, incident reporting, toolbox talks and safety briefings, and working with leadership to ensure visible commitment.
  • Develop clear HSEQ reporting, tracking incidents, near misses, safety observations and compliance metrics, and providing actionable insights to leadership.
  • Identify and manage operational risks as the business scales, implementing controls across safety, environmental and quality areas.
  • Ensure staff understand their responsibilities and safe working practices, coordinating and delivering training where required.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven experience in Health and Safety leadership within operational or engineering environments.
  • Strong ability to develop policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work from scratch.
  • Experience implementing ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.
  • Experience building systems in early-stage or scaling businesses is desirable.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to operate in ambiguity and create structure.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented without being overly bureaucratic, with a clear focus on delivery and creating a safe, professional working environment.

Why Join AssetCool?

  • Work on groundbreaking technology revolutionizing the power grid.
  • Fast-growing startup with significant industry traction and large-scale projects.
  • Collaborative, innovation-driven team with exciting career growth opportunities.
  • Competitive salary, and flexible work options
