Role Title
HSE Advisor
Job Summary
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Team provides business wide HSE leadership, strategy and direction, integrating regional and group HSE policies and processes in support of construction excellence, legal compliance and safe working practices on and off-site.
Based on-site and reporting to the HSE Regional Manager, the main purpose of the role is to facilitate HSE compliance, support the ongoing improvement of the Integrated Management System and deliver specific HSE support to construction projects and wider HSE initiatives in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
• To support the H&MV business to establish, monitor, control and improve safe working environments, focusing on the large construction project you are assigned to. This will also include office, depot, street works, and maintenance environments.
• Provide professional guidance and support to Management and Operations across the business.
• Continually support in the development, promotion and delivery of HSE projects and initiatives. • Lead HSE engagement with internal and external stakeholders on-site.
• Report and thoroughly investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, with a key focus on root-cause analysis. Provide recommendations and actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Complete high quality HSE audits and inspections internally and externally (contractors etc.).
• Produce, Review, Implement and monitor site-specific HSE plans, RAMS, and toolbox talks.
• Maintain records, reports, and documentation for internal and external HSE compliance.
• Develop opportunities for HSE best-practice internally and externally, including the delivery of on-site training and toolbox talks.
• Promote an enthusiastic HSE culture that delivers positive commitment.
Competency and Skills
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate as a minimum, or NEBOSH General Certificate with relevant construction experience (have a good understanding of Regulations)
Proficient in the use of Management Systems and associated software.
• Educated to HNC level or significant compensatory business experience.
• Experience of the electricity transmission and distribution industry, civil or other utility or construction industries.
• Experience in delivering HSE compliance on a construction site. Be able to identify and manage risks.
• Well-developed and practiced negotiation, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Have a Full UK Driving Licence to be able to travel to fulfil responsibilities of role.
