Health & Safety Consultant / CDM Principal Designer

Salary: to £50,000-£60,000 + car allowance

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a construction Health & Safety professional with CDM and BRPD experience to join one of the UK’s leading property and construction consultancies. This is a great step for someone with solid experience in H&S and design risk management, looking to further their career within a collaborative and high-performing team.

The Role

As a Senior Consultant, you will support the delivery of CDM and Health & Safety advisory services across a varied project portfolio. You will work alongside experienced Principal Designers, contributing to early-stage design risk reviews, client and design team engagement, and the preparation of compliance documentation. Over time, you may take on more direct PD responsibilities, depending on project complexity and your level of experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Principal Designer function in accordance with the CDM 2015 regulations
• Assist with reviewing design proposals for risk and compliance
• Attend design team meetings and contribute to design risk management discussions
• Carry out site inspections and audits to monitor compliance and support project delivery
• Contribute to the development of Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety Files
• Liaise with internal teams, clients, designers and contractors to help promote a proactive safety culture

Requirements

• 2–5 years’ experience in a construction H&S or CDM advisory role (ideally within a consultancy)
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum)
• Tech IOSH and working towards CMIOSH and/or IMaPS
• A good understanding of CDM 2015 and relevant UK construction legislation
• Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
