General Description:
The Health & Safety Manager will support all aspects of H&S for projects in Operation & Maintenance phases. The Health & Safety Manager will act as a Line Manager for and be supported by a team of H&S advisors.
You will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of Health & Safety strategy and management systems, supporting departments and projects in achieving regulatory, stakeholder and best practice needs and expectations, managing risks and guiding teams in delivering their operational responsibilities.
Based in Fraserburgh / Buckie predominantly, with a need to travel domestically and internationally the Health & Safety Manager will report to the OW UK Senior Health & Safety Manager.
The Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for delivering excellence and continual improvement in the areas of Health & Safety. They will support initiatives under Ocean Winds general policy to ensure the achievement of the company’s strategic objective.
Core Main Accountabilities:
Provide H&S support to projects in the O&M phase.
Ensure implementation of safety management systems in line with requirements of BU.
Support pre-qualification and due diligence of contractor activities.
Review of safe systems of work, internal and external.
Monthly H&S reporting
Lead or participate in accident and incident investigations and reporting.
Ensure implementation of effective communication plans.
Ensure Emergency preparedness across projects.
Plan, organise and direct the effective management of health and safety across project activities, including effective coordination of corrective and improvement actions.
Chair relevant H&S meetings and committees.
Escalate items of concern to appropriate line management
Work in collaboration with construction phase H&S Managers for efficient handover of all H&S items from construction to O&M handover.
Effective H&S risk management.
Support the development, review and implementation of Risk Assessments and Method statements.
Support OW UK Health & Safety Senior Manager in initiatives, innovations, and special projects where appropriate.
Develop, implement, and improve project Health and Safety management system, including inspection and audit assurance activities.
Ensure project legal compliance.
Line management of O&M H&S resources.
Develop and implement project H&S strategies, plans and supporting documents.
Assist with the development of project specific H&S targets and objectives.
Implement and maintain a schedule of monitoring and assurance activities.
Legal, stakeholder, best practice, identification of aspect compliance.
Hazard identification (risk register, design, location, role, operational, DSE, Psychosocial, HAZOBS).
Establish, communicate, and manage the standards of H&S reporting, data and indicators required in all activities both internally and externally.
Monitoring, measurement, analysis, and evaluation of H&S information and data, together with the heads of business units and corporate departments.
Develop, Support, and implement the learning and development needs of a project.
Ensure that the H&S competency requirements of all staff are understood and realised.
Support project teams on all matters relating to H&S.
Required Academic and Professional Experience:
Suitable qualification with demonstrable knowledge in Health and Safety
5 years’ experience in a similar management role and end-to-end experience of the project lifecycle would be beneficial.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Construction (design and management) Regulations 2015
General knowledge areas:
HS Management, permit-to-work systems, marine practices, and environmental management. Accident and Incident Investigation; Root Cause Analysis; Quality Management Techniques; Human Factors and Inherently Safe Design; Behavioural Safety; Project Management; Risk Management; International Marine Legislation; Safety, Information and Knowledge Management; Excel, Visio, Microsoft Project, Word and PowerPoint, Coaching and leadership.

The project has an international team of employees, and the working is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Other will be highly valued.
Location:
Based in Fraserburgh / Buckie predominantly, but with a need to travel domestically and internationally as required. A hybrid work-from-home/office policy is in place.
