Health & Safety Manager (retained partnership)

Salary circa £60,000 plus package

We are recruiting a proactive, hands-on Health and Safety Manager for a small construction business. This is a high-autonomy role for someone who takes ownership, drives improvements, and keeps standards tight without being told. If you like closing the laptop at five, this is not the right move..

About the role:

• Home based with travel across the Midlands and Hertfordshire
• Take full ownership of the management system and safe systems of work
• Lead site inspections, audits, and reviews of RAMS
• Create, review and improve risk assessments
• Influence and advise senior management on H&S policies and compliance
• Shape the overall safety culture across the business
• Ensure Health and Safety is practical, effective, and integrated into daily operations

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience with management systems, safe systems of work, and risk assessments
• Ability to operate independently and take full ownership
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills
• Comfortable working in a small, hands-on business environment
• Based within reasonable travel distance of the Midlands and Hertfordshire

Salary & benefits:

• Circa £60,000 depending on experience and capability
• Package can include car allowance
