Are you a strategic leader with a passion for Health, Safety, and Environment? We are looking for an HSE Manager to lead our HSE function, ensuring legal compliance, operational risk reduction, and the continued development of a proactive safety culture. You will play a pivotal role in managing a dedicated team and acting as the day-to-day driver of high-quality HSE standards across the business.

The Role:
\n
In this role, you will lead the Health, Safety & Environment function, managing a team of HSE Advisors and Coordinators. Working closely with operational leaders and the Head of QHSE, you will provide the coaching and technical direction necessary to ensure consistent HSE delivery across all business areas.

\n
\n
Key Responsibilities
\n
\n \n Leadership & Management: Line-manage the HSE team, providing regular 1:1s, objective setting, and professional development plans.
\n
\n Culture & Influence: Champion a positive safety culture and influence managers to take direct accountability for safety performance.
\n
\n Compliance & Governance: Ensure full compliance with UK legislation (including HSWA, RIDDOR, CDM, PUWER, and COSHH) and maintain ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 standards.
\n
\n Incident Investigation: Lead serious incident investigations, oversee accurate RIDDOR reporting, and validate the completion of preventative actions.
\n
\n Risk Management: Oversee RAMS, maintain the HSE risk register, and conduct high-level site audits and behavioural safety conversations.
\n
\n Environmental Oversight: Manage environmental compliance regarding waste, spills, and emissions while supporting sustainability initiatives.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Qualifications & Experience
\n
\n \n Education: NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
\n
\n Sector Experience: Strong operational HSE experience within utilities, construction, engineering, or energy environments.
\n
\n Management: Proven experience supervising or managing HSE professionals or technical staff.
\n
\n Technical Proficiency: Demonstrable experience leading complex investigations and audits.
\n
\n Legal Knowledge: Thorough understanding of UK Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
\n
\n
\n

\n \n Risk Analysis: Expert-level skill in risk assessment, permit systems, and incident analysis.
\n
\n Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage with Board Directors and Senior Management.

\n Decision Making: Exceptional analytical and decision-making capabilities.

Desirable Attributes

\n NEBOSH Diploma or Level 6 Qualification.

CMIOSH or Membership of IOSH.
