Location: Hybrid/ Birmingham
Rate: Up to £600pd Outside IR35 / Self Employed
Start: May 2026 (TBC)
Contract Length: 12-16 Weeks (potential to extend)

Role: We are currently looking to bring in a Health & Safety advisor to support my clients Safety team on a temporary cover basis. The assignment will be scheduled for 12-16 weeks but may be extended if required.
This would be a hybrid-based role, with some capacity to work from home and some work where the task will determine the need to be at site to carry out health & safety assessments.
Key Responsibilities: * Report to Interim Senior Safety Risk Manager * Collaborate closely with Property and Depot Engineering teams to identify operational hazards and assess associated risks across a diverse portfolio of assets and activities. * In conjunction with related Function lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of risk assessments, ensuring they are suitable, sufficient, and aligned with current legislation, industry standards, and organisational policies. * Produce clear, practical, and user-friendly Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) that enable safe execution of maintenance, repair, and engineering activities. * Translate technical and regulatory requirements into concise briefing documents, toolbox talks, and guidance materials tailored to operational teams and contractors. * Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure risk controls are understood, implemented, and embedded into day-to-day operations. * Review existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance, updating as required to reflect changes in processes, equipment, or legislation. * Monitor the effectiveness of risk controls through site engagement, audits, and feedback, recommending improvements where necessary. * Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging workforce involvement in the development and ownership of risk assessments and safe systems of work, attending sites under accompanying (not requiring PTS) as required. * Maintain comprehensive records of all safety documentation and ensure accessibility for relevant stakeholders.
Requirements: * NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent - essential * Rail Experience - desirable * Experience of health & safety within a property and / or engineering environment
