Salary up to £65,000 plus package
A leading tier one contractor is looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to join their team supporting major highways projects in the Peterborough area. The role focuses on substantial highways schemes, including motorways, A roads, and dual carriageways. This position is not suitable for candidates with only minor works or small civils experience. This is a regional role, so you must live within a 45-minute radius of Peterborough and be able to travel to sites daily, as no lodge allowance is provided.
The company is looking for someone who understands the operational pressures and risks of major highways work. You will be working with supervisors, managers and traffic management teams on live assets, closures, night works and high risk activities.
Occasional nights and weekends will be a requirement. Do not apply for this job unless you are comfortable with this.
Key Responsibilities
• Support Health and Safety across major highways projects
• Carry out audits, inspections and routine site visits
• Advise on safe systems of work and traffic management arrangements
• Review and support the creation of RAMS and briefings
• Report unsafe conditions and help resolve site issues
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture
Requirements
• Must live within 90 min conmmute of Peterborough
• Strong highways experience on major roads/motorways
• Comfortable working in live traffic and TM environments
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
• Confident influencing site teams and operatives
• Full UK driving licence

• Someone with true highways experience
• Comfortable with closures, lane drops, night shifts and emergency works
• Able to build strong relationships with engineers and subcontractors
• Practical, calm and confident in fast moving environments
• Looking for a stable, long term regional role
