We are looking for a Head of Year KS5 (rotating between HOY12 and 13) in a school that offers excellent opportunities for professional development. William Perkin Church of England High School (Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ May 2025) is one of four Twyford Trust schools, a successful multi‑academy Trust based in the Borough of Ealing. We offer comprehensive CPD, exciting development opportunities and good promotion prospects for our teachers.
The main purpose of the Head of Year role is to ensure all students in the year group are consistently and effectively supported to make outstanding academic progress within the wider context of their full personal, social and spiritual development. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring students’ academic progress, attendance and behaviour as well as ensuring students are engaging in wider learning, including the CASE programme and student leadership programme. The Heads of Year at KS5 work closely with each other and the SLT, but particularly with the Assistant Headteacher KS5 (Director of Sixth Form) and the 14‑19 Administrator.
The shortlisted candidates are likely to be highly successful teachers with experience in implementing or supporting strong pastoral strategies as the role combines leadership of effective curriculum & assessment with a very wide range of pupil support issues. Curriculum, Pastoral & Wider Learning Programmes – directed by the Head of Sixth Form – must challenge, excite, stimulate and challenge all KS5 students, including the most able.

A good degree and QTS
Proven record of outstanding results
Outstanding skills as a classroom teacher and as a tutor

Some experience of managing or implementing pastoral systems and initiatives
Some experience of managing others / managing change
Ability to be reflective and driven towards self‑improvement
A commitment to the ethos of the school
