Overview As our next Head of Strategy & Corporate Development, you’ll sit at the centre of how Checkatrade evolves - shaping the direction of the business, owning our strategic narrative, and driving the initiatives that will define our next phase of growth. You’ll work across long‑term strategy, investor storytelling and hands‑on execution, partnering closely with senior leaders to turn ideas into action and keep us moving in the right direction. Responsibilities

Setting and evolving the overall business strategy, using market insight, performance data and commercial thinking to define where we go next. Building a clear, compelling equity story that connects our strategy, performance and ambition for investors and the board. Leading high‑impact strategic projects, from AI services to marketplace evolution, solving complex problems that shape the future of the business. Identifying and developing M&A opportunities, building relationships and managing a pipeline aligned to our growth ambitions. Owning deals end‑to‑end, from evaluation and financial modelling through to execution and integration. Supporting the CEO, CFO, COO and other senior leadership across functions to ensure strategy translates into real outcomes. Identifying impactful external insights, driving clarity in ambiguous situations and helping the business make confident, well‑informed decisions.

Qualifications

Experience in strategy, corporate development, investment banking, private equity or top‑tier consulting. Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to build models, challenge assumptions and think through trade‑offs. Confidence operating across both big‑picture strategy and detailed execution. A proactive, self‑starting mindset with a bias for action. The ability to work cross‑functionally and influence senior stakeholders. Clear communication skills, able to turn complex thinking into simple, compelling narratives. A collaborative, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude and openness to feedback.

Screening call with a Talent Acquisition Partner. 1st stage interview focused on experience, thinking and approach to strategy. 2nd stage panel interview exploring commercial acumen, stakeholder management and operating style. Final stage interview with senior stakeholders across commercial and finance teams.
